First Two Weeks At Home

Landon is now 8 weeks old and he is thriving at home. He eats every 3 - 4 hours and he sleeps and poops, a lot!  He is awake about 3 hours a day. During his awake time he likes to make eye contact. He stares very intently into our eyes and takes in all the noises of our house. He prefers to be held, but will spend some time in his swing or laying in his little floor mat gazing at the hanging toys.

He is now 7 pounds and is 19 inches long. He grew one inch in a week! He coos when he eats and his favorite place to sleep is on my chest! When he nurses he has a death grip on my shirt or tank top strap. When he is hungry he will try to latch on to anything that grazes his face - my shirt, my collar bone, Dylan's neck! He is a very quiet baby and will make little cries when he is hungry.

He hasn't had much interaction with our dogs as they totally ignore him. He doesn't startle when they bark.

We all do the oxygen tube dance around our house. The miles of green oxygen tubing drag behind him where ever his is. It isn't as annoying as I was expecting. I was expecting the dogs and Addison to be constantly tangled up in it and tripping on it. But it hasn't been a big deal at all.

He goes to the doctor regularly for weight checks and oxygen checks. In the next few weeks he will have another eye and ear exam and he will see a pediatric pulmonologist to check on his lungs. We have begun to wean his oxygen as he tolerates. He is able to sit in his swing for short periods of time. He is so tired of his nasal cannula and still tries to rip it off his face. He wasn't able to breath well enough to ride in a traditional car seat so he has a car bed. He has all but outgrown the car bed, his legs have to be all scrunched up for him to fit. Hopefully his lungs will have improved enough in the next couple weeks to allow him to use a car seat.

We were advised to keep it low key at home to keep Landon away from all the infectious people! No large groups of people, no crowds of kids, no places like Wal-Mart. We spend most of our time at home. As flu and RSV season approaches it will be so important to keep Landon away from these places. If he were to get one of these sickness he would most likely land him back in the ICU. In November, Landon will be receiving monthly RSV shots. We can have visitors and go visiting as long as no one has been sick or is feeling sick. Hand washing and hand sanitizing is a full time job in our house!
Addi dressed up his teddy bear!
I try to just snuggle him as often as possible.

First time playing at the park!
See how he just stares into faces!
Addi and Landon "watching a kid's show"
Hanging out in his swing.
His favorite spot!
A wonderful big sister.
Having a chat with Papa.
Bathing beauties.
Landon temporarily "un-plugged". So handsome.

First time in the forest!

I'm a little miracle.
