About

I am a mother of two. My husband and my children are my world. Staying home and being a mommy is a dream come true and I love every minute of it - every dirty, hysterical, chaotic, joyful minute of it. I write this blog for them. May they always know they are loved and every moment we spend together is cherished.

I enjoy being outside getting muddy, kayaking, rock climbing, camping, floating the river and hiking. I am dedicated to protecting wildlife and wild places. I love animals and am a zoologist by training. I enjoy banding hawks and owls, volunteering at the Humane Society, training dogs, taking kids on nature walks and observing and photographing wildlife. I love being surrounded by my amazing family and friends - sharing laughs, good food, memories and creating traditions.

I blog about our daily adventures. I blog about my dreams, goals, accomplishments and failures. I enjoy taking pictures of my family and our life together and I enjoy sharing them. My blog is my therapy. I strive to be completely honest and open both in my life and in my writing.

My daughter Addison is the joy of my life. She is the most dramatic person in my life and she makes every situation more interesting. She has a wonderful sense of humor and sense of style. Her hair has to match her socks and she loves anything girl - shopping, nail polish and changing outfits to match her moods. She is my side kick and loves kayaking, climbing and camping as long as her hands are clean and her shoes sparkle.

My son Landon is my miracle -- literally. In July 2011, he was born 10 weeks premature with a very serious medical condition called Hydrops Fetalis. When he was delivered by emergency C-Section he was given a meek 3% chance of surviving. After spending 6 1/2 weeks in the NICU relying on breathing and feeding machines, literally fighting for his life, he is home, in my arms and he is thriving.

I don't expect my blog to reach outside my close family and friends. I only hope my children will one day read our blog and be thankful to have a written record of their young lives.
