Pictures by Jessi

We had our friends over for dinner a few weeks ago and Jessi snapped a few pictures of Landon. I will always treasure the pure love and emotion she captured.

Mamma's Boy

My little man - 14 weeks old.

When I look back on baby pictures of Addi there are very few of her and I together. I am always taking the pictures. So...I am trying to remember to harass Dylan or Addi to take a few of my sweet boy and I together! Last night Landon and I were cuddling on the couch watching the baseball game.

Pumpkin Muffins

Addison LOVES to bake and I LOVE to eat!! We are a perfect combo! Dylan doesn't mind the warm yummy treats delivered to his clinic or waiting for him when he gets home either. The dogs also enjoy baking time. They eagerly wait below Addi waiting to lap up anything that gets spilled off the counter!

Addi's apron. A gift from Great-Aunt Shelly.
I usually don't get too adventurous when choosing our recipes, but they are always comforting and so yummy. This morning we turned on Christmas music to set the mood and made Addictive Pumpkin Muffins. Yes, you read it right -- I said Christmas music. If Dylan would tolerate it I would have it on all year! They turned out beautifully and yes they are addictive! Addi said, "This color reminds me of Christmas."

Yes we are beater batter eaters!
I wish I could somehow link this post to the way these muffins smell as they are cooking. It is one of those scents I would bottle into a candle and burn all year long. They filled my home with the most delicious pumpkin-clove cloud of yumminess!

Opening Day Elk

This past Saturday was opening day of rifle season. Dylan was eager to get out and hunt. Since he started PA school three years ago his hunting seasons have been interrupted by moving to Salt Lake, clinical rotations and accepting a new job in Helena. Dylan had a special permit for an antlerless elk but ended up getting this nice 6 point bull.
Our friend Neil went with Dylan and luckily had a camera and took these pictures.

Landon Lately

Landon is 13 weeks old! He continues to do very well. He is smiling more and more. He is very smiley in the morning. The past several nights he has slept 6 hours in a row! I woke up in a panic, checking to see if he was breathing. He does this funny thing when he wakes up in the middle of the night, instead of crying, he makes little grunting and groaning sounds. He will do this for about 1/2 hour before he is awake enough to eat. It is like sleeping with a little cave man! Other than those noises and crying when hungry he is a very quiet baby. He is starting to make little cooing sounds more and more, but doesn't make much sound at all. He really enjoys being carried in his Ergo Baby pack and watching Addison! He likes spending some time on his belly watching his light-up toys. His neck gets stronger every day and he can hold it up for long periods of time. He continues to nurse very well and other than his long stretches at night he eats every 3 - 4 hours.

He loves bath time!
He loves sitting up like a big boy!
He loves his big sister.

He is pure joy. He is very sweet and I can't express how much I love him.

Smiley Boy

The Reba Concert

I am a huge fan of Reba. I love her music, I love her show!! She is the artist I rock out to and sing on road trips! When I am using my hand as a microphone and sing, my number one favorite Reba song, "Fancy", Dylan says, "You really shouldn't do that!" When I am singing "Fancy" I daydream that Reba has pulled me on stage to sign it with her!! I even tweeted Reba and told her that I would be in there if she wanted to pull me on stage!! A part of me really thought she would! I know, I'm a little crazy!

Randomly I heard on the radio last week that she would be in Bozeman this month. I had to go. I don't say that very often, but I HAD TO BE THERE. Plus another new favorite, "The Band Perry" was opening for her.
I was planning on driving to Bozeman and going to the concert by myself. I was looking forward to some alone Mommy time. Addi overheard me telling Papa that I was going to go alone. She said, "Mom you could bring me and we could have a special date together!" Okay, how do you say no to that. I was really concerned about whether or not she would like it. She is super sensitive to noise. She spent about half of the Band Perry's songs with her hands over her ears. She then got used to it and really enjoyed the music.

The boys decided to go with us and we stayed the night in a hotel. Addi loves to swim and took full advantage of the pool and hottub! The boys spent some quality boy time in the hotel while us girls were at the concert.

Her most favorite thing to do!

She sat like this for half of the Band Perry. She eventually got used to it!
Dancing! The lady sitting above us asked her if she was going to be the next Reba!

A Powlund Weekend

Last Thanksgiving, Emily nicknamed the five of us "the Powlunds". We have already been through so much together and I feel blessed to have our Dave and Em for life. I read somewhere, "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves." With Dave and Emily these words are so true. Emily told me that Dave said, "I love that Addi thinks we really are her aunt and uncle!" Uncle Dave and Auntie Em are so important to Addi! We always have a lot of fun when we are together  -- whether it is Em and I laughing about how Dave and Dylan share the same brain, a impromptu hike, an afternoon of pizza and movies, a princess dance party or an evening of pumpkin guts -- we usually don't stop laughing the whole time!

Dylan and Dave spent Saturday fishing ... I know, SHOCKING!!

We carved pumpkins. Both Addi and Dave were disgusted with scooping out the pumpkin guts!

So much so, that it made Addi gag. She literally almost threw up!

Daddy teasing Addi with the pumpkin guts.
"Daddy, those guts are so slimy"
She got used to it and ended up enjoying the guts!

On Sunday afternoon we went on a beautiful fall hike. The fall colors were amazing. A really neat old mine shaft followed the creek.

A giant washout took out the road and made the only way to cross the creek was on this cattle barrier...that won't stop us!

Uncle Dave holding Landon for the first time!
See you soon Em.
